About Steady Dollar

Steady Dollar explains the parts of personal finance that usually arrive as fine print: insurance policies, retirement plan rules and the everyday costs hidden in prices, taxes and contracts. Each article takes one question, walks through how the numbers work with a simple example, and points out what to check in your own documents.

What we cover

  • Insurance Basics – deductibles, life insurance types, renters and car insurance, and the health insurance terms that decide what you pay.
  • Retirement Planning – employer matches, vesting, traditional and Roth accounts, withdrawal rules of thumb and annuities.
  • Everyday Money – unit prices, inflation and purchasing power, renting versus buying, sales tax and VAT, and extended warranties.

How articles are written

Examples use round, clearly labeled illustration numbers that we calculate in the article; they are not quotes of current premiums, rates or legal limits. We do not recommend specific insurers, plan providers, stores or products, and we do not accept payment for coverage.

Content is general education, not personal financial advice; see the Disclaimer.
